Short biography (for media use)
Elsie Hughes is a young racing cyclist from Ripponden in West Yorkshire. Born (in 2011) without her left forearm, she competes across track, mountain bike, cyclo-cross and road/circuit racing, regularly racing against able-bodied riders as well as in national para competition.
After turning 14, Elsie made her debut at National Para Track Championships, where she finished on the podium in mixed-classification events. She is now part of the British Cycling Para Programme, receiving specialist coaching with the aim of competing internationally in the future.
Elsie’s journey combines performance, innovation and inclusion, supported by a growing network of coaches, engineers, clubs and partners.
